National Athletes’ Forum marks Olympic Day in Afghanistan

Kabul, Afghanistan, June 25, 2021: Afghanistan National Olympic Committee held the Afghanistan National Athletes’ Forum to mark International Olympic Day on June 23 at the NOC HQ in Kabul.

The forum was in four parts: Sports governance in Afghanistan, the role of sport in a peaceful Afghanistan, sports and women and problems and challenges.

The President of Afghanistan NOC, Dr Hafizullah Wali Rahimi, presided over the forum and was joined by several influential sports and government dignitaries. These included Ajmal Ghani, senior adviser and OCA Executive Board member, and Robina Jalali, Representative of Kabul in the Afghan Parliament and Vice President, Women’s Division, of Afghanistan NOC.

The Afghanistan National Athletes’ Forum was organised to discuss the problems and challenges facing athletes in the country and to listen to their suggestions, as well as from the government.

Member of Parliament Robina Jalali posted a report on her Facebook account regarding the sports and women conference, the 20-year report on achievements of Afghan sport, sports administration, talent identification and how to turn challenges into opportunities.
