Dhaka, Bangladesh, June 25, 2021: The Bangladesh Olympic Association marked Olympic Day at Dhaka on Wednesday, June 23 with a series of activities that observed restrictions necessary with the global pandemic.
To spread the spirit of Olympism, NOC Bangladesh organised a flag-hoisting ceremony, a seminar on Olympic values and an anti-doping awareness programme. All the events were attended by athletes and officials from various National Sports Associations/Federations.
The flag-hoisting ceremony was held at NOC Bangladesh HQ. NOC Secretary General Mr Syed Shahed Reza inaugurated the ceremony at 11am by hoisting the IOC flag. Vice President Mr Shaikh Bashir Ahmed hoisted the OCA flag and Deputy Secretary General Mr Asaduzzaman Kohinoor raised the NOC Bangladesh flag.
A seminar on “Olympic Values and Ethics in Perspective of Bangladesh” was organised at Dutch Bangla Bank Auditorium of NOC Bangladesh at 12 noon. The keynote paper was presented by Mr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Siddique, National Course Director and Director, National Olympic Academy, NOC Bangladesh. Secretary General Mr Syed Shahed Reza was Chief Guest.
An anti-doping awareness programme took place at 4pm at Dutch Bangla Bank Auditorium to appraise and strengthen the knowledge of athletes and officials regarding the latest updates on the global anti-doping scenario. Dr Mohammed Shafiqur Rahman, Chairperson, South Asia Regional Anti- Doping Organisation (SA-RADO) and Member Secretary, Medical and Anti-Doping Committee, NOC Bangladesh conducted the informative session.
A brochure was published on Olympic Day 2021 featuring recent activities of NOC Bangladesh and distributed among all the participants.
