Uzbekistan NOC holds nationwide Olympic Day celebrations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, June 24, 2021: Olympic sports officials in Uzbekistan are celebrating Olympic Day with a series of events throughout the country. 

The events may be on a smaller scale than usual due to the pandemic but they are bright and colourful and are promoting the Olympic spirit and values on this special global occasion. 

Olympic Day celebrations got underway on Monday, June 21 and will continue until June 28 with 15 national sports federations holding public events and competitions.  

The NOC of Uzbekistan held a big flash mob on June 21, attended by its leadership as well as officials from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, government ministers, athletes and representatives of national federations.  

On this occasion, a special message from the IOC President, Mr. Thomas Bach, was presented to all participants to keep the spirit of Olympic Day. 

These days, Olympic Day is developing into much more than just a sports event. The speakers of the events share with the audience the history of Olympic Day, its significance and the idea of Olympism as well as the projects being implemented by the government to promote a healthy lifestyle.
