New Delhi, India, June 24, 2021: The Indian Olympic Association launched the official theme song for Team India at the Tokyo Olympics on Olympic Day, Wednesday, June 23.
The official theme song was launched at a glittering ceremony by Indian Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju in the presence of the President of the Indian Olympic Association Dr. Narinder Dhruv Batra.
Also present were IOA Secretary General Rajeev Mehta, Secretary Ministry of Sports Ravi Mittal, Director-General of Sports Authority of India Sandip Pradhan and Deputy Chef de Mission of the Indian contingent Dr. Prem Chand Verma.
Sports Minister Rijiju said: “It is the vision of the Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi that the entire nation must come together to support and motivate Indian athletes going to Tokyo Olympics. The launch of the official theme song today is a step in that direction. I urge every Indian to come forward and join in this movement to cheer India’s top athletes as they put their best to bring glory to India.”
IOA President Batra said: “With the launch of the theme song, I want all our athletes to know this is not only an inspirational song. It is the resonance of 1.4 billion prayers behind you, and I strongly believe that you will give your best and bring glory to our nation.”
Delivering the vote of thanks, IOA Secretary General Mehta said: “The theme song is quite motivating and I hope it will bring a great deal of enthusiasm and energy for athletes to do well at the Games. So far athletes from 15 disciplines have qualified for the Olympics and I’m hoping more to join them. In terms of medal tally, we are expecting a rich count."
The song has been composed by renowned Bollywood singer and composer Mohit Chauhan with the lyrics penned by his wife Prarthna Gahilote. The uplifting song aims to motivate Indian athletes, to never miss their targets and focus on their goals with grit and determination.
The Indian Olympic Association thanked Chauhan for composing a “high-energy song that encapsulates the spirit of every athlete’s dreams.”
