OCA Peace Through Sport Committee provides updates on projects around Asia

Amman, Jordan, November 27, 2019: The Olympic Council of Asia’s Peace Through Sport Committee met in Amman, Jordan, on Wednesday, November 27 under the chairmanship of HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein, IOC Member and President of the Jordan Olympic Committee. After an introductory session, the meeting heard an overview of the committee’s status, membership, previous work and successes and challenges. Session three comprised of progress reports by Generations For Peace on various projects around Asia. These included Central Asia – Kyrgyzstan; South East Asia – Indonesia; South Asia – Pakistan and Sri Lanka; and West Asia – Yemen. The next two sessions were devoted to the Peace Through Sport annual plan for 2020, including the programmes, scope, partnerships and visibility, and the annual budget including the support of the OCA and OCA partners. The sixth and final session was the conclusion and wrap-up by the chairman. Following the meeting, the Jordan Olympic Committee arranged a tour to their Olympic Preparation Centre which was also partially funded by the OCA under the OlympAsia project. The visitors were very impressed with the facilities providing services and support for around 150 athletes in various sports.
