Bhubaneswar, India, November 25, 2019: Indian sprinter Dutee Chand has been named by TIME Magazine to its first-ever TIME 100 Next, a new expansion of the TIME 100 list of the most influential people in the world. The list highlights 100 rising stars who are shaping the future of business, entertainment, sports, politics, health science, activism and more. Chand, who has come out as India’s first openly gay athlete, became the first Indian to win a gold medal in the women’s 100m sprint at the 30th Summer University Games in Naples earlier this year. Chand said: “I am delighted to receive this recognition from TIME. I believe in gender equality. I will continue to fight for the rights of young girls and women in sports as well as in the larger society.” Source: ANI News Agency
