Yemen NOC and Athletes’ Commission hold sports nutrition seminar

Sana’a, Yemen, June 17, 2021: The Secretary General of Yemen Olympic Committee, Mohamed Al-Ahjri, has urged athletes to be vigilant of their diets at a sports nutrition seminar held on June 10 at the National Olympic Centre in Sana’a.

The one-day seminar was organised by the Yemen Athletes’ Commission and held under the auspices of the Yemen Olympic Committee with support from Olympic Solidarity.

More than 120 athletes and coaches attended the event where participants were informed about the importance of sports nutrition and given detailed information on how many calories there are in food groups like fruits, meat, fish, starches and vegetables.

The Yemen NOC Secretary General advised participants to make the most of the seminar as it would benefit in their performances. He also praised the Yemen Athletes’ Commission for organising the event.

The seminar was conducted by a lecturer from the Adel Al-Aqabi University in Sana’a who explained the types of food that will benefit athletes according to their weight and effort expended in the particular sport.
