Beach sports boom in Sanya ahead of 6th ABG

Sanya, China, November 25, 2019: The organising committee for the OCA’s 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, Hainan province, next year believes a boom in beach sports is already underway. Long before the 6th ABG is held from November 28 to December 6, 2020 Sanya is witnessing a rise in the interest in beach sports, notably beach soccer and beach volleyball. "We are all very happy and hope that this sports event will come soon," said Wang Jianghan, executive vice president of the Sanya Five-a-side Football Association. “To hold the Asian Beach Games in Sanya is an excellent opportunity for the promotion and development of beach soccer events, and it can also help to train professional sports talents in Sanya,” he added. "The soft and clean beaches of Sanya are the valuable resources for beach sports and for further use. More importantly, with the support of the event, it can promote the professional development of Sanya beach sports.” As preparations for the 6th ABG are progressing, various professional training projects for athletes and coaches are being launched in Sanya which will further enhance the skills of local athletes and coaches. At the same time, in recent years, Sanya City has vigorously created a national fitness environment and promoted beach sports. “I believe that, after the Asian Beach Games, a group of professional sports talents will emerge," concluded Mr Wang, who will cooperate fully with the organising committee to promote beach soccer ahead of the ABG.
