Kuwait City, Kuwait, May 27, 2021: The President of the Olympic Council of Asia, His Excellency Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, has congratulated His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck on his re-election as President of the Bhutan Olympic Committee.
“Sport in Bhutan has made tremendous strides under your able and dynamic leadership,” Sheikh Ahmad said in a letter.
Sheikh Ahmad added that the continued confidence shown in Prince Jigyel by the sports fraternity would further strengthen the Olympic Movement in Bhutan.
Prince Jigyel, 36, became Bhutan Olympic Committee President in 2009. He was re-elected unanimously at the 5th General Assembly on May 21 for the term 2021-25.
His Royal Highness has been a member of the International Olympic Committee since 2018 and Chair of the OCA International Relations Committee since 2015.
