Phnom Penh, Cambodia, May 26, 2021: The President of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, HE Dr Thong Khon, organised the latest meeting of the 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games Cambodia 2023 organising committee (CAMSOC) on Tuesday, May 25.

Dr Thong Khon, who is the Minister of Tourism and Vice President of CAMSOC, ensured that the meeting of leading officials took place while observing strict health protocols.

NOCC and CAMSOC Secretary General Vath Chamroeun said the meeting focused on two main issues.

The first was that the 31st SEA Games, due to be hosted by Vietnam in November 2021, will go ahead as scheduled at this time, and all 11 National Olympic Committees in the region had been requested to take part. The dates are November 21 to December 2, 2021 with the venues in Hanoi and neighbouring cities and provinces.

The timeline for the event was outlined for the benefit of the national sports associations, such as entry deadlines and other registration requirements.

The second major topic was Cambodia’s hosting of the SEA Games in 2023 for the first time in history. The departments of the organising committee presented their progress reports, and it was revealed that Prime Minister Hun Sen and the government had given the national athletes the all-clear to train while observing the health protocols.
