Hangzhou, China, May 22, 2021: Hangzhou 2022 officially launched the global volunteer recruitment programme for the 19th Asian Games on Saturday, May 22.
Organising committee HAGOC is looking for 52,000 volunteers to work at the Asian Games, which will run from September 10-25, 2022 in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province in eastern China. Deadline for applications is October 31, 2021.
“In keeping with our vision of hosting a ‘Green, Smart, Economical and Ethical’ Asian Games - and in order to stage an unforgettable sports and cultural event with ‘Chinese Style, Zhejiang Glamour and Hangzhou Flavour’ that will be spectacular - the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 Organising Committee (HAGOC) is pleased to announce the launch of our Games Volunteers Recruitment Programme so that friends from around the world can be involved in our Games effort,” HAGOC said.
“Volunteers will be categorised according to the types of duties assigned and services performed. The three main categories of volunteers are General, Professional and Lead.”
Volunteers will be required to work in Hangzhou or at one of the co-host cities of Ningbo, Wenzhou, Jinhua, Huzhou and Shaoxing.
The various working areas include competition operations, accreditation, protocol, language services, arrivals and departures, ceremonies and events, spectator services, media operations, Games services, transport, official conference services, the Asian Games Village and official hotels or Information Technology.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old (born before September 1, 2004), be excellent communicators, have good coordination and language skills and be available to take part in training and other activities organised by HAGOC.
HAGOC will give priority to candidates with previous experience volunteering at sporting events and who are available for the entire Hangzhou Asian Games, Hangzhou Asian Para Games and test events.
