HRH Prince Jigyel re-elected Bhutan NOC President

Thimphu, Bhutan, May 23, 2021: His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck was unanimously re-elected as President of the Bhutan Olympic Committee for the term 2021-25 at the 5th General Assembly on Friday, May 21.

New Executive Committee members from National Sports Federations and District Sports Associations were also elected. 

In line with the safety and Covid-19 protocols and guidelines initiated by the Ministry of Health, the Bhutan Olympic Committee conducted the 22nd Executive Committee meeting and 5th General Assembly virtually.

The BOC also presented the Strategic Road Map for two Olympic cycles 2021-2028 for the overall development of sport. The Secretary General of the BOC stated that the BOC would work fervently to take sport to the next level with the road map as the guiding document.

The BOC issued a statement: “BOC would like to express our heartfelt congratulations to His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck on unanimously being re-elected as the President of the BOC. We would like to also congratulate Executive Committee members from NSFs and DSAs on your election today.”

HRH Prince Jigyel was congratulated by leading sports officials from national sports associations and district sports associations.

These included the Bhutan Indigenous Games and Sports Association, athletics, Paro district, weightlifting, volleyball, Punakha district, badminton, Athletes’ Commission of Bhutan, tennis, football, karate, golf, shooting and cricket.
