Doha, Qatar, November 13, 2019: India led the way grabbing six of the 38 quota places in shooting on offer for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics at the 14th Asian Shooting Championships in Doha, Qatar. India, who finished fourth at the Championships winning five gold medals at the Losail Shooting Complex, will be satisfied with its rich haul of six quotas to the Olympics. They were followed by Japan and Thailand who both won five quotas, ahead of Iran with four. The other 18 Olympic places were split between a further 11 countries including one quota to hosts Qatar – Mohammed Al Rumaihi getting a berth for his country in the Trap Men. Asian shooting powerhouse China had already won 25 quotas for the Olympics before arriving in Doha. India’s haul of six quotas in Doha takes the total of Tokyo 2020 Olympic quotas in shooting for the country to 15 – the second-best Asian nation to China. South Korea follows with 14 quotas. A total of 16 Asian countries, with 102 quotas, between them, will represent the continent in shooting in Tokyo. China meanwhile dominated the Asian Shooting Championships winning a total of 42 medals comprising 18 golds, 19 silver and five bronze. South Korea finished second with 21 medals, including eight golds, and North Korea took third place with 11 medals, including six golds.
