Tokyo 2020 to come under the spotlight at latest IOC Executive Board meeting

Lausanne, Switzerland, April 19, 2021: The next chapter of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games story will be written this Wednesday, April 21 when the International Olympic Committee Executive Board meets remotely by video conference through a secure electronic system.

The meeting agenda includes updates on Tokyo 2020, which is due to take place from July 23 to August 8, having been postponed for one year, as well as the first Winter Youth Olympic Games to be held in Asia – Gangwon 2024 in Korea.

The EB is scheduled to receive updates on the activities of the IOC commissions and administration, as well as reports from the organising committees for the upcoming Olympic Games, and is scheduled to run from 12 noon to 4pm (Central European Standard Time).

IOC President Thomas Bach is due to hold a press conference at 6pm to inform the world’s media on the situation regarding Tokyo 2020.

The IOC Executive Board meeting agenda consist of reports from the IOC President, International Olympic Summer Sports Federations, International Winter Sports Federations, National Olympic Committees and Athletes.

These reports will be followed by updates on the activities of the Coordination Commissions and the Olympic Games organising committees of Tokyo 2020, Paris 2024, Milano Cortina 2026 and the Winter YOG Gangwon 2024. 

Reports on the activities of the IOC administration in sports and NOCs will be followed by Olympic Agenda 2020+5 – the new roadmap for reforms based on the original Olympic Agenda 2020.
