Singapore, April 16, 2021: The Southeast Asia Regional Anti-Doping Organisation (SEARADO) is working with Timor-Leste to boost its anti-doping programme.
SEARADO had a “fruitful discussion” with key stakeholders in Timor-Leste during a virtual meeting on Thursday, April 15, led by SEARADO Director General Gobi Nair.
Participants included representatives from the National Olympic Committee including Secretary-General Laurentino Guterres, National Sports Commission and Secretary of Youth and Sports.
“An overview of the International Convention for Doping and the World Anti-Doping Code was presented,” SEARADO reports.
“Some follow-up plans were discussed including the setting up of the National Compliance Platform, the organisational set-up of the National Anti-Doping Organisation, anti-doping logic and anti-doping education.
“Timor-Leste has started on the correct footing in the fight against doping.”

*Gobi Nair, Director General, SEARADO had a virtual meeting with members of LADI (Indonesian National Anti-Doping Organisation) to discuss matters of organisational set-up and aspects on operational and institutional independence in line with the 2021 WADA Code.
In line with one of SEARADO’s strategic objectives - engagement - a webinar was held on April 7 to encourage all stakeholders to engage and involve athletes in the anti-doping programmes.
Titled “Engaging the Athlete Community”, participants were given an introduction to the Athletes’ Anti-Doping Rights Act by the SEARADO Director General.
This was followed by a question-and-answer session with a three-member panel comprising Yaya Yamamoto, Senior Manager, Japan Anti-Doping Agency’s Tokyo Legacy Project Team, Rachel Jeong, Senior Manager, International Relations Dept, Korean Anti-Doping Agency, and Natanya Potoi-Ulia, Executive Director, Oceania RADO.
SEARADO hopes member countries will involve athletes in promoting clean sport.
