Yemen NOC congratulates wrestling president on Asian honour

Sanaa, Yemen, April 16, 2021: Yemen Olympic Committee has sent congratulations to the President of the Yemen Wrestling Federation, Abdullah Derham Al-Maghrabi, on his election to the executive council of United World Wrestling Asia.

“The President of the Yemen Wrestling Federation, Abdullah Derham, has become the sole representative of Arabs after being elected at the UWW Asia General Assembly in Kazakhstan,” the YOC said.

“He serves as Secretary General of the Arab Federation for Wrestling and Vice President of the West Asian Union and has wide international presence and relations.

“With this achievement, the Yemen Olympic Committee is pleased to congratulate brother Abdullah Al-Maghrabi on his election. This highlights the competence and the personality of the Yemeni sports official in these difficult circumstances and assures Yemen of a consistent presence in sports forums and sporting competitions.

“The presence of these sports figures in Asian positions is a great achievement for Yemeni sports.”

The Yemen Wrestling Federation governs freestyle, Greco-Roman, women’s wrestling and beach wrestling under the leadership of Abdullah Derham Al-Maghrabi.

At the UWW Asia General Assembly in Almaty on April 12, renowned Kazakh Greco-Roman wrestler Daulet Turlykhanov was re-elected to the post of President for another four years.
