Fun run brings Asian Games flavor to Nagoya

Nagoya, Japan, July 7, 2018: 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games Fun Run has brought Asian Games flavour to 2026 Asian Games hosting city Nagoya Aichi Prefectural on Saturday. Although it is till 8 years to 2026 games, local citizens, Aichi prefectural and Nagoya city government have shown great enthusiasm to welcome Asian Games. Around 300 people attended 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games Fun Run held in Nagoya Meijo Park.

The fun run began at 10 am along jogging track of Nagoya Meijo Park and took the participants on a 1.6 km route for half an hour relay. Japan Olympic Committee Vice President and Secretary General Eisuke Hiraoka, OCA Athletes Committee Chairman and JOC EB Member Koji Murofushi presented medals to 30 top runners.

Aichi Prefectural Governor Hideaki Omura, Nagoya City Mayor Takashi Kawamur, Indonesia Olympic Committee EB Member Syahrir Nawier attended today’s event. OCA was represented by Wissam Trkmani and Media Manager Jeans Zhou Jian.

In the press conference after fun run, Japanese gold medallist Koji Murofushi who had an undergraduate degree in physical education and completed his doctorate in 2007 at Chukyo University in Aichi Prefectural said it will be his honour to work together with local organizers to create a successful Asian Games.

“I would love to see Nagoya Aichi Prefectural host a successful Asian Games in 2026”, said Koji, “I comes from here and it will be my honour if I can contribute myself to a successful Nagoya Aichi Asian Games in 8 years’ time.”

Mr. Kazuhiro Naruse, Director of Asian Games Division, Mr. Minoru Shoji, Director of Asian Games Promotion Office also attended today’s press conference after fun run.
