Colombo, Sri Lanka, April 12, 2021: Sri Lanka's Sports Minister Namal Rajapakse opened the new laboratory of the Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency (SLADA) on Friday, April 9.
The new facility equipped with modern technology was inaugurated to mark the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) Play True Day which was celebrated worldwide last Friday.
“An athlete's discipline is very important in building their career and I believe the modern technology at this laboratory will be very useful for the athletes’ future preparations,” Minister Rajapakse said.
He added: “Along with anti-doping, athletes also have to look after their nutrition levels. These are two key components.”
Also present at the opening ceremony was the Chairman of SLADA, Professor Arjuna de Silva.
The construction of SLADA’s new laboratory began in 2017 and it includes state-of-the-art equipment which will benefit Sri Lanka sports.
