FINA announces new dates for Diving World Cup in Tokyo

Lausanne, Switzerland, April 12, 2021: FINA has announced the re-scheduling of the FINA Diving World Cup for the new dates of May 1-6, 2021 to be held in Tokyo.

The Marathon Swim Olympic Qualifier will now take place in Setubal, Portugal, on June 19-20. The original venue and dates were Fukuoka, Japan, from May 29-30.

Concerning the organisation of the Artistic Swimming Olympic Qualification Tournament, which was set for May 1-4 in Tokyo, FINA and its counterparts are still reviewing the staging of this event and a decision will be made in the days to come.

“After a very fruitful consultation process between FINA, the Japan Swimming Federation, the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee, Japanese authorities including the Government of Japan and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the IOC, FINA is pleased to announce the re-scheduling of the FINA Diving World Cup for the new dates of May 1-6, 2021,” FINA said in a statement dated April 9.

“The competition will take place in Tokyo (JPN), as originally planned, and will serve as both a qualification and test event for the Olympic Games, taking place from July 23-August 8, 2021 in the Japanese capital.

“This decision follows confirmation of the detailed procedures for entry and local hosting arrangements in place for the event in Japan during the month of May for all delegations taking part in the event.”
