Taipei, April 9, 2021: Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee celebrated the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace on April 6. It was the third year in a row that CTOC had marked this significant global occasion.

As usual, CTOC invited elite national athletes in different sports to show support for peace through the #WhiteCard campaign, which is a symbol of the peace-through-sport movement.

Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, said: “Sport and physical activity contribute directly to physical and mental health, and to combating both non-communicable and communicable diseases.”

Responding to the call by President Bach, CTOC encouraged people to engage in sport together for strengthening health and society.

The elite athletes included:

*Wen Tzu-Yun (karate). She is the first karateka to win the gold medal two consecutive times in the women's kumite 55kg at the Asian Games.

*Wang Kung-Hung (swimming) competes in butterfly and freestyle. In 2020, he broke the men’s 200m butterfly world junior record with a time of 1:49.89.
