Bahrain NOC steps up Tokyo 2020 preparations

Manama, Bahrain, March 30, 2021: The Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, His Excellency Mohamed Hasan Ali Al-Nusuf, conducted an Olympic Games briefing with the administrative team to check on preparations for Tokyo 2020. 

The admin team was led by the director of the Bahrain mission, Hamad Ahmed Buhijji, at the virtual meeting.

The Secretary General began the meeting by conveying the greetings and best wishes of the Bahrain Olympic Committee President, His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, who congratulated the team on their achievement and expressed confidence that they would represent the Kingdom with distinction at the Olympic Games.

Al-Nusuf emphasised the importance of concerted efforts in the coming weeks to make the best possible preparations for Tokyo 2020 and provide the best conditions for the athletes to compete successfully in the Olympic Games. He said the administrative team had vast experience of overseas missions and this gave him confidence that they would prepare the best environment for the delegation, especially in the exceptional circumstances brought about by the pandemic.

“Every time the Kingdom of Bahrain participates in international sports events overseas, the Bahrain Olympic Committee is always keen to project a distinguished and positive image,” he added.

“We look forward to this new participation and being successful in all aspects while highlighting the culture of the Kingdom.”

The meeting covered all aspects of preparation including administration, medical and media. 

Al-Nusuf stressed the importance of communication with the national sports associations concerned to ensure a smooth participation for the delegation at the Olympics, which will run from July 23 to August 8.
