New Delhi, India, March 29, 2021: The International Shooting Sport Federation has announced that host country India topped the medal rankings at the ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun meet in New Delhi from March 18-29.

Indian athletes won a total of 30 medals, comprised of 15 gold, nine silver and six bronze.

The United States finished in second place with eight medals (4-3-1) and Italy was third with four medals (2-0-2).

“This success was possible only by our team efforts and efforts made by Mr. Raninder Singh, the National Rifle Association of India President, NRAI and our coaches,” said Vijayveer Sidhu, silver medallist in the men’s team 25m rapid fire pistol.

“I would also like to thank the ISSF for successfully conducting this World Cup as it seemed to be difficult during this pandemic time.”

Adrian Drobny of Slovakia added: “The organisation was at very high level. I give thumbs up to ISSF for this.”

India welcomed 300 athletes from 53 nations to the ISSF World Cup in Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun.

For the first time the World Cup programme included 30 events: 12 individual, 12 team and six mixed team.

The World Cup competition determined the leaders of the Olympic qualification ranking by which an athlete will be eligible to participate in Tokyo 2020 in one of the Individual events.

In addition, a successful performance in New Delhi earned athletes points towards the 2021 world ranking.

Lonato in Italy is due to stage the next ISSF World Cup Shotgun from May 7 to 17.
