Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, March 29, 2021: Malaysia’s Chef de Mission for the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games Vietnam 2021, Datuk Haji Hamidin Haji Mohd Amin, has held special discussions with three presidents and two secretary generals of five National Sports Associations.

The discussions, which took place on March 25, were with:

*Mr. Melvin Chia See Oon, President, Malaysian Snooker & Billiards Federation

*Dato’ Haji Radzi Mansor, President, Petanque Federation of Malaysia

*Mdm. Rusni Abu Hassan, President, Malaysian Fencing Federation

*Dato’ Paduka Nur Azmi Ahmad, Secretary General, Malaysia Karate Federation

*Datuk Wira Megat Zulkarnain Tan Sri Omardin, Secretary General, Malaysian National Silat Federation, who was also Malaysia’s Chef de Mission at the 30th SEA Games Philippines 2019.

“Since the two sports, snooker & billiards and fencing, are not under the development programme of the National Sports Council, we will facilitate the two national sports associations concerned to secure training centres and coaches for their final preparations towards the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam,” said Datuk Haji Hamidin Haji Mohd Amin.

The Chef de Mission hopes that the Olympic Council of Malaysia can play a role to resolve issues between the local petanque federation and the Asian and International federations.

“Based on past records, karate and silat have never failed to contribute gold medals for the Malaysian contingents to the SEA Games; therefore, the preparation of the karate and silat teams must be given high priority,” added Datuk Haji Hamidin Haji Mohd Amin.
