Syria's Paralympic team wins six medals in Tunisia Grand Prix

Damascus, Syria, March 22, 2021: Syria’s Paralympic athletics team have returned home with six medals from the Tunis World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Rades, Tunisia, reports the Syrian Arab News Agency.

The six medals were comprised of one gold, three silver and two bronze in an event which attracted 480 athletes from 64 countries.

Pride of place went to Mohammad Khaled Mohammad, who won gold in javelin with a throw of 41.68 metres in classification F57 (seated throws).

The international tournament was part of Syria’s preparations for the Paralympic Games in Tokyo this August.

The national team consisted of Mohammad Khaled Mohammad, Alaa Abd al-Salam, Ali Asa’ad and Abdul Hakim al-Bakr, under the supervision of coaches Jamal Aliwi and Musab Aisha.

Last month, the team harvested a gold medal, four silvers and a bronze at the Fazza International Para Athletics Championship.
