Cambodia’s national athletes begin vaccination programme

Phnom Penh, Cambodia, March 3, 2021: The vaccination programme for Cambodia’s national athletes began on Tuesday, March 2 under the supervision of the national police.

The Covid-19 vaccine was available for sports officials and coaches as well as athletes, and 200 people received their jab on the first day of a three-day programme in which 1,051 members of the sports community will be vaccinated.

Under the direction of the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen, everyone connected with the organisation of, and participation in, the 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Phnom Penh in 2023 is eligible for vaccination in order to create a safe and confident working environment.

The vaccination programme is also to aid the Cambodian team training for the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam this November.

The Secretary General of NOC Cambodia and also of the Cambodia SEA Games Organising Committee CAMSOC, Vath Chamroeun, said the vaccination list would include performers and artists preparing for the closing ceremony flag handover cultural performance in Hanoi.
