POA working group for South Asian Games Pakistan 2023 meets for first time

Lahore, Pakistan, March 21, 2021: The first meeting of the Pakistan Olympic Association Working Group for the 14th South Asian Games 2023, constituted by POA President Lt Gen Syed Arif Hasan HI (Retd), was held on Saturday, March 20 at Olympic House in Lahore.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Muhammad Aamir Jan, President, Punjab Olympic Association. Mr. Javed Rasheed Chohan, Director of Administration, Sports Board Punjab, represented the Government of Punjab. 

The Secretary Generals of the concerned National Sports Federations attended the meeting in person and on Zoom. 

Discussion focused on the following points and sought suggestions or proposals of cities and venues to conduct the competitions of the respective National Sports Federations: 

*Sports venues available in Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot and Gujranwala including accessibility, parking and seating capacity

*The need to upgrade venues to bring them up to international standards as well as new construction

*Requirement of international-standard sports equipment for competition venues.

The priority options of the cities for organising competitions of respective National Sports Federations in the 14th South Asian Games were collected. 

The National Sports Federations have been requested to survey the competition venues of the proposed cities and make a complete plan of their requirements in terms of equipment to be installed and the upgrade/renovation of the competition venues and training venues to conduct competitions in a befitting manner.
