Colombo, Sri Lanka, March 15, 2021: The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka held a press conference at Olympic House to promote the 2021 IOC Women and Sport Award.
The IOC runs the women and sport award every year and rewards an influential figure in the women and sport movement in all five continents, as well as awarding a world trophy on top of the five regional awards.
The IOC is calling for nominations for this year’s award and NOC Sri Lanka held a press conference to encourage applications and recognition for the awards.
“The IOC is, more than ever, committed to its mission to encourage and support the promotion of women in sport at all levels and in all structures,” NOC Sri Lanka said in a statement.
“The annual IOC Women and Sport Awards present an important opportunity to recognise the women, men and organisations that are working towards gender equality in sport across the world.
“In this spirit, NOC Sri Lanka encourages the National Federations to nominate a candidate for the 2021 edition of the IOC Women and Sport Awards.”
The mechanisms of the annual award were explained by Ms. Niloo Jayatilake, Chair, Women's Committee of NOC Sri Lanka.
