Tashkent, Uzbekistan, March 14, 2021: A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the International Teqball Federation (FITEQ), the Ministry of Public Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan in Tashkent last week.

Representing the three bodies were FITEQ Secretary General Marius Vizer Jr., Uzbekistan NOC Secretary General Oybek Kasimov and Minister of Public Education Sherzod Shermatov.

“I believe that this game will be a favourite among students in our schools as it is possible to combine a number of sports. It will help promote a healthy lifestyle among our youth,” said Minister Shermatov.

Kasimov remarked: “We thank the International Teqball Federation for its initiative to promote this sport in our country. This sport is developing very fast all over the world and could be included in the programme of the Asian Games and Olympic Games in the future.”

According to Kasimov, FITEQ will supply 10,000 pieces of teqball equipment to Uzbekistan in the near future as it pushes to promote the sport in the country.

A high-powered delegation from the International Federation, led by President Gabor Borsanyi, Chairman Viktor Huszar and Secretary General Vizer, had been on a week-long roadshow in Uzbekistan promoting the sport and had met with NOC President Rustam Shaabdurakhmonov as well as Deputy Minister of Sport Ravshan Sayfiddinovich.

Vizer said: “The week we had in Tashkent is a perfect example of why we launched the Teqball Roadshow. It is a country that already loves sport and it is open to welcoming new and innovative ideas. The meetings and workshops throughout the week have helped build strong foundations for teqball’s development in the country and we will work closely with the Uzbekistan NOC as we look to recognise the National Teqball Federation.”

Teqball is played on a curved table combining elements of football and table tennis.
