Hangzhou, China, March 11, 2021: One of the main venues for the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China in September 2022 is nearing completion.
The Asian Games Natatorium is located in the heart of Olympic Park – the Hangzhou Olympic and International Expo Centre, near the “Big Lotus” main stadium and “Little Lotus” tennis centre.
The newly built aquatics centre has a gross floor area of 397,000 square metres and will host the swimming, diving and artistic swimming events at the 19th Asian Games. The water polo will be at a different venue – the Dragon Sports Centre.
The natatorium will have a seating capacity of 6,484 – and will host the next stage of the exciting China/Japan swimming rivalry that captivated the crowds at the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta, as well as providing the perfect platform to witness the wizardry of the Chinese diving team.
In a Facebook post on March 11, the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 reports: “The natatorium for the 19th #AsianGames #Hangzhou2022 is now taking shape. The venue, which features a design concept inspired by the Milky Way, is expected to be completed within the month!”
