Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, March 10, 2021: The Olympic Council of Malaysia welcomed delegations from two sports - baseball and xiangqi - to Olympic House on Tuesday, March 9 to discuss their plans and projects and future cooperation.
A delegation from the Baseball Federation of Malaysia was led by its newly elected President, Mr. Sazali Husain. He was accompanied by Mdm. Zaharah Abdullah (Secretary General), Ms. Asha Samin (Treasurer) and Ms. Rohaida Hassan (Committee member).
They were welcomed by Dato’ Mohd Nazifuddin, Secretary General of OCM, Ms. Michelle Chai, Chief Operating Officer of OCM, and Mr. Fong Wan Hor, General Manager of OCM.
“We are looking forward to renewing our partnership with the new line-up of the Baseball Federation of Malaysia,” said Dato’ Mohd Nazifuddin.
The OCM will continue to support the efforts of the baseball federation in the promotion and development of Baseball in Malaysia.
A delegation from the Malaysia Xiang Qi Association was led by its newly elected President, Dato’ Ir. Lim Tee Him. He was accompanied by Dato’ Ir. Tan Suan Ching (Chairman of National Team Committee), Mr. Chia King Kau (Honorary Secretary), Mr. Lee Chew Hwa (Treasurer) and Mr. Seck Kin Wai (Deputy Secretary General).
The Malaysia Xiang Qi Association was founded in 1972 and played a significant role in the promotion and development of Xiang Qi (Chinese chess) in Malaysia. The first national championship was held in 1975.
The Malaysian association was one of the eight founding members of the Asian Xiangqi Federation in 1978 and was a co-founder of the World Xiangqi Federation in 1993; it has participated in two multi-sport games under the jurisdiction of the OCM - the 2nd Asian Indoor Games Macau 2007 and the 16th Asian Games Guangzhou 2010.
The OCM pledged its full support of the participation of the association in the upcoming SEA Games and 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.
