Colourful ‘Sport for All’ collage brings Hong Kong NOC festival to a close

Hong Kong, China, December 29, 2020: The Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China brought the 63rd Festival of Sport to a successful conclusion with the production of a colourful collage showing the joy of sport and exercise.

The organising committee received 2,700 contributions and 400 pictures following their appeal for athletes and members of the public to share their experience of playing sports or exercising at home.

The theme for the festival collage was “Sport for All – Together we start OUR fitness journey”, and the entries were assembled into one creative collage.

The festival, which is supported by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, was different this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It usually starts in April and features around 60 events in cooperation with the National Sports Associations, but this year it was delayed until October and focused on online activities and promotional work with four ambassadors.

In addition, 10,000 packs of “Activity Kits for an Active Starts” were given to primary students from 45 schools with an objective to inspire students to exercise regularly and to cheer for their resumption of school.

Mr. Tony Yue, Chairperson of the FOS Organising Committee, said: "2020 has been a challenging year for all of us. Under the global pandemic situation, our daily life was greatly affected.

“It is of utmost importance to promote ‘Sport for All’ at this moment because regular exercise is one of the key components of health. We took the first step to use new methods to promote the Festival of Sport this year. We hope the public can continue to enjoy different kind of sports activities while staying at home."
