Tashkent, Uzbekistan, December 22, 2020: Saken Polatov, Vice President of the Uzbekistan National Olympic Committee, has been appointed as chairman of the newly-created Asian Boxing Confederation (ASBC) Fund and Development Commission.
ASBC President and Vice President of the International Boxing Association, Anas Alotiaba, informed all national federations this week that Polatov, who is also Vice President of the Uzbekistan Boxing Federation and ASBC executive committee member, would head a five-man Fund and Development Commission aimed at helping boost the sport in Asia.
The Asian governing body for boxing will in 2021 allocate funds which will be disbursed to national federations supporting them to buy boxing equipment, carry out training courses and help in logistics and other areas.
Along with Polatov, four other persons have been appointed to the Fund and Development Commission – Edgar Picson (Philippines), ASBC executive board member and deputy chairman of the new fund; Fawzi Asafra (Palestine), president of the Palestine Boxing Federation; Raj Kumar Sacheti (India), executive director of the Indian Boxing Federation; and Billy Vong (Macau), member of the Macau Boxing Federation.
The Uzbekistan National Olympic Committee conveys its best wishes to Polatov on assuming his new position in the Asian Boxing Confederation.
