Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, December 18, 2020: The President of Mongolia Olympic Committee, Naidan Tuvshinbayar, was welcomed by His Excellency Khaltmaa Battulga, Head of State, at the Presidential Palace and made a detailed introduction on Team Mongolia's preparations for Tokyo 2020 and the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games.
At present, 11 athletes in archery, boxing, wrestling, shooting and swimming have obtained an Olympic quota for Tokyo 2020.
In addition to this, and particularly noteworthy, is that the women's basketball team (3x3) has qualified for the Olympic Games for the first time in the 56-year history of Mongolian Olympic Games sport.
The Head of State, Kh. Battulga, who has been President of the Mongolian Judo Federation since 2006 and was world sambo champion in Kiev in 1982, has assured the strong support of the Mongolian government to athletes and coaches and pledged to foster the Olympic training activities to add more quota places.
N. Tuvshinbayar, Beijing 2008 Olympic judo champion, was accompanied by Mr B Battushig, IOC Member and NOC First Vice President, and Mr E. Badar-Uugan, NOC Secretary-General and Beijing 2008 Olympic boxing champion.
Mongolia NOC has appeared in the Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964 and has captured two gold, 10 silver and 14 bronze medals in wrestling, judo, boxing and shooting at 13 editions of the Summer Olympic Games.
