Hong Kong, China, December 18, 2020: The Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China held a presentation ceremony of commemorative plaques to the sports celebrities in the 2020 Roll of Honour to appreciate their significant contributions to sports development in Hong Kong.
Speaking at the ceremony on December 17, SF&OC President Mr Timothy Fok said: “I am glad to see that many sports administrators, representatives from National Sports Associations and athletes have been awarded by the HKSAR government.
“This affirms their contributions and active participation to sports development and public affairs over the years.”
The 13 sports celebrities in the 2020 HKSAR Honours List are:
Gold Bauhinia Star: The Hon. Ma Fung Kwok, Mr Thomas Chow Tat Ming.
Silver Bauhinia Star: Ms Vivien Lau Chiang Chu, Dr. Patricia Leahy.
Bronze Bauhinia Star: Mr Ma Ching-Nam, Dr. Kenneth Chu Ting-Kin.
Medal of Honour: Mr Kwan Kee, Mr Lo Yun Sum, Ms Kwan Sau Ling.
Chief Executive's Commendation for Community Service: Mr Philip Mok Kwan Yat, Dr. Patrick Chan Ping Cheung, Mr Yapp Hung Fai, Mr Chung Chi Lok.
On the same day, the SF&OC announced their Incentive Awards and Junior Incentive Awards for 2019.
The SF&OC awarded a total of HKD 2,378,088 (USD 307,000) to recognise the outstanding performance of Hong Kong athletes in multi-sports games and World/Asian Championships in 2019.
The cash incentives included HKD 1,316,388 (USD 170,000) for Incentive Awards to 39 National Sports Associations and HKD 1,061,700 (USD 137,000) for Junior Incentive Awards to 33 NSAs.
“The SF&OC once again thanks the awardees and the National Sports Associations for their significant contributions to the development of sport in Hong Kong,” the SF&OC said in a statement.
