Secretary Generals of Maldives and Lebanon receive OCA Order of Merit Awards

Muscat, Oman, December 16, 2020: The Secretary Generals of Maldives and Lebanon, two long-serving members of the Asian sporting family, were recognised for their invaluable services, becoming the recipients of the Olympic Council of Asia Order of Merit on Wednesday, December 16.

Ahmed Marzooq, Secretary General of the Maldives Olympic Committee, and Brigadier General (retd.) Hassan Rustom, Secretary General of the Lebanon Olympic Committee, were awarded the OCA Order of Merit titles.

The duo received their Merit Awards for services to Asian sport from OCA President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah and Oman Olympic Committee President Sayyid Khalid bin Hamad Al-Busaidi at the 39th OCA General Assembly held at the JW Marriot Muscat in Oman.

Marzooq has been Maldivian NOC Secretary General since 2009 and also a long-standing member of the OCA Media Committee.. He has represented the island archipelago in football at the Under-16, U-19 and U-23 levels and has also been a coach.

Rustom has been Lebanon NOC Secretary General since 2013. He is also the President of the Lebanon Rowing Federation, a position he has held since 1998 and is also a member of the International Committee for Military Sports.
