Hangzhou, China, December 15, 2020: The 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou in September 2022 will showcase not only the host city but also the co-hosting cities and regions around Zhejiang province in eastern China.
One such area is Chun’an County, which will stage six events – four of them in cycling (track, mountain bike, road race and BMX), plus open water swimming and triathlon.
The newly built venue cluster is located 2 km from the sub-village, which is one of four satellite villages to supplement the main AG Village in Hangzhou in the “1+4” accommodation plan of organising committee HAGOC.
The total land area of the Chun’an County cluster is 129,000 sq metres, with a gross floor area of 37,000 sq m. The cluster has a total of 6,840 seats for the six events.
The new velodrome is the focal point of the new sports hub and has a floor area of 22,000 sq m with a seating capacity of 3,040, while the open water swimming and triathlon site covers 4,836 sq m and has 2,200 seats.
Other details are: BMX – 3,420 sq m, 1,600 seats; MTB – 1,675 sq m; road race, 4,460 sq m.
HAGOC reports that the Chun’an County Velodrome is 90 per cent complete and all construction work will be finished by March 2021 – 18 months before the 19th Asian Games, from September 10-25, 2022.
Chun’an County is 150 km from Hangzhou city centre and is a tourist hot spot due to the Thousand Islets Lake, also known as Qiandao Lake.
