Sanaa, Yemen, December 1, 2020: The Yemen Karate Federation with the backing of the Yemen Olympic Committee successfully held the annual Yemen Karate Championship last month.
A total of 40 athletes, both seniors and juniors, participated in 10 age groups and different weight categories ranging from 30kg to 61kg and above, with 66 kumite (fighting) bouts being held during the competition.
Yemen’s Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport, Abbas Al-Madoumi, presented winners with medals and certificates.
National coaches Muhammad Al-Harazi and Abdul Rahman Al-Samhi played a leading role in the organisation and running of the two-day event.
