Dushanbe, Tajikistan, November 10, 2020: The National Olympic Committee of Tajikistan held training seminars in three sports – basketball, chess and volleyball – under the theme of ‘Sustainability of Sports’.
The Tajikistan NOC initiative was held on November 3-4 in Tursunzoda and Vahdat, and November 4-5 in the capital Dushanbe.
In a statement on its website, the NOC said: “The main goal of this programme is to take into account the principles of sustainable development in the Olympic Movement.”
It added: “The use of best practices in governance will help national federations, boost the social responsibility of young people, and build a culture of respect for nature and the environment.”
The series of seminars introduced officials from the national sports federations to the practices of sustainable development adopted by the International Olympic Committee.
Apart from the seminars, sports competitions were held in basketball, chess and volleyball by graduates of sports schools in the capital. The winners were awarded diplomas and medals by the Tajikistan NOC. Sports equipment was also given to the sports schools.
The event was followed by an environment campaign in which participants helped clean up the areas around sports facilities.
