United Arab Emirates Olympic Committee celebrates UAE Flag Day

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, November 5, 2020: The President of the United Arab Emirates National Olympic Committee, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, marked the UAE Flag Day on Tuesday, November 3 by hoisting the national flag at the NOC headquarters in Dubai.

Sheikh Ahmed called on all Emirati youth and the country’s sports community to carry the UAE flag with pride and participate in shaping the future of the nation under the leadership of the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the guidance of Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

On this occasion, the NOC President highlighted the development of the UAE’s sports sector and the achievements of the Emirati athletes in regional and international events. 

He expressed his appreciation to all national athletes and teams for their dedication and called on them to continue pursuing new accomplishments, overcoming the challenges posed by the pandemic. Sheikh Ahmed also affirmed the leadership’s commitment to providing all the support necessary for Emirati athletes and teams.

First Vice President of the NOC HE Humaid Al Qutami, Director General of Dubai’s Department of Economic Development HE Sami Al Qamzi, NOC Secretary General Mohammed bin Sulayem and a number of athletes and leaders in the sports sector attended the Flag Day celebration.

The ceremony was jointly organised by the NOC and Dubai’s Department of Economic Development.

UAE Flag Day is a national occasion for citizens and residents to honour the efforts of the founding fathers of the UAE. It has been held every year since 2013.
