Kuwait City, Kuwait, November 4 , 2020: The Olympic Council of Asia is calling on its 45 National Olympic Committees to join in the production of a major documentary about the Asian Games.

The “Hi, Asian Games” documentary is being produced by the organising committee of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China with the full support of the OCA.

The documentary will involve four or five episodes of between 40 and 50 minutes and will be shown in March and April 2022 – setting the scene for the 19th Asian Games from September 10-25. The main series will be preceded by between 60 and 80 micro versions of three to five minutes to be aired in early 2021.

The OCA and HAGOC is now inviting the 45 NOCs to appoint a media liaison to assist in the sourcing of the material for the documentary.

“We do believe that this will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase sport in Asia as well as be a valuable contribution to the Asian Games brand,” said a circular to the NOCs signed by OCA Director General Husain Al Musallam and HAGOC Deputy Secretary General Chen Weiqiang, who is also Vice Mayor of Hangzhou.

Each NOC is being asked to contribute story ideas, text, photographs and videos and to assist the production team during filming and promotion.

The request outlines six major themes for the series: historical and landmark events, sports stories, city and culture, social change, geopolitical angles and stories from behind the scenes.

They provide examples for each of the six themes, including key figures in the development of the Asian Games, national sports such as pencak silat, sepak takraw and kabaddi and star athletes such as Chinese Taipei badminton champion Tai Tzu Ying.

HAGOC is asking for all contributions to be submitted before January 2021.
