Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, October 30, 2020: Askar Moldagali, a member of the Karate Federation of Kazakhstan, has been picked in the 14-strong panel of judges to officiate at the Tokyo Olympics by the World Karate Federation.

Moldagali is an internationally qualified judge with full license in both Kata (forms) and Kumite (fighting). He expressed joy at his selection for the judging panel at Tokyo 2020 next year.

“Of course, this is good news not only for me but also for the national federation and the sport in Kazakhstan in general. The two years before the Olympics were very difficult but, with the support of the Kazakhstan NOC, the National Karate Federation and the Ministry of Culture and Sports, I participated in all 25 licensed tournaments,” Moldagali said.

“There is a lot of work to be done before the end of the Olympic cycle. However, I will try to live up to expectations,” he added.

Kazakhstan karate head coach Zhastalap Sanauov said: “The fact that the Kazakh judge is one of the judges at the Olympic Games is a reflection of the unity and hard work of the domestic federation. Our judges have proved that they can work on a par with the best in the world.”
