Sanaa, Yemen, October 28, 2020: The Yemen Olympic Committee is mourning the assassination of Hassan Mohamed Zaid, Minister of Youth and Sports in the country’s Houthi administration.
Zaid was killed by gunmen in the Yemeni capital Sanaa on Tuesday, October 27. He died in hospital from his wounds after the gunmen fired on his car. State-run television said Zaid’s daughter was also in the car and was seriously injured.
In a statement issued on its Facebook page, the Yemen Olympic Committee said: “Deep condolences to his family and the sporting family, and we pray to God to have mercy on him.”
It added: “We call on the concerned authorities to prosecute the perpetrators and bring them to justice so that they can be a deterrent to those who beg to harm the security and peace of society. May God have mercy on Hassan Zaid, and give his family patience and solace.”
