Lahore, Pakistan, October 26, 2020: Pakistan’s taekwondo ace Maham Aftab passed away at the young age of 26 last Friday, October 23. She was recently diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Besides winning international and national events, she also represented Pakistan at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in 2010.
Pakistan Taekwondo Federation President Col (retd.) Waseem Ahmed said: “Her services will be remembered always as she won laurels for Pakistan. May God Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and give courage and fortitude to the family to bear this irreparable loss.”
“Maham fought the disease for two long months. May Allah Almighty bless her soul in eternal peace,” said the Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination, Dr. Fehmida Mirza, who also serves as President of the Pakistan Sports Board.
Maham retired from competition almost five years ago.
