Hangzhou Marathon to finish at Asian Games main stadium Big Lotus

Hangzhou, China, October 23, 2020: A press conference for the 2020 Hangzhou Marathon was held on Thursday, October 22 and the route was revealed to potential runners.

The event will start from Wulin Square at 7.30 am on Sunday, November 22 and finish at the main stadium of the 19th Asian Games, nicknamed the Big Lotus, within the Hangzhou Olympic and International Expo Centre. 

The GAC Honda 2020 Hangzhou Marathon will have only two race categories – the full marathon and half marathon – and the quota will be reduced to 10,000 this year.

Organisers announced that registration will start at 8.0 am on Friday, October 23 and finish at 7.0 am on Sunday, October 25. The draw will be conducted on October 26 and the results will be announced on November 2. 

Runners can sign up for the 2020 Hangzhou Marathon via WeChat or Alipay App. 

The Big Lotus will host the opening and closing ceremonies of the 19th Asian Games, which will run from September 10-25, 2022 and also the athletics competition. 

It has a gross floor area of 216,000 sq m and a seating capacity of 80,173.

The Little Lotus tennis centre is a short distance from the Big Lotus and was converted into a swimming complex for the FINA World Short-course (25m) Championships in 2018.
