Oman Olympic Committee holds three-day marketing seminar

Muscat, Oman, October 19, 2020: The Oman Olympic Committee in conjunction with the Oman Olympic Academy held a three-day online sports marketing seminar last week.

Dr. Bassam Abdullah Qambar, Chief Marketing Advisor at the Aspire Zone Foundation in Qatar who is also involved in the organisation of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, was the main lecturer at the seminar from October 13-15.

The seminar was attended by employees from the Oman Olympic Committee, officials from national sports federations and the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Youth, as well as military sport personnel.

The topics covered during the online seminar were the types of sports marketing, sports sponsorship strategy, sports sponsorship piracy, goals and elements of sports sponsorship, the concept and trends of sports facilities and sports promotion, among others.

The aim of the course was to give participants an overview of the science of sports marketing through a detailed explanation of the basic concepts and practices so that they could understand and apply the best marketing practices in order to raise the level of marketing performance and to achieve additional funding for the individual sports federations.
