Macau NOC President re-elected for fourth term

Macau, China, October 9, 2020: The President of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macau, China, Mr Charles Lo Keng Chio, was re-elected for a fourth term of office at the General Assembly on Friday evening.

Mr Lo, who became President in 2008, will serve his fourth four-year term through to 2024.

“It is a great honour to be re-elected President of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macau, China and to have the trust and confidence of my colleagues,” said Mr Lo after the General Assembly, which was at the National Stadium in Taipa.

“The Olympic Committee has the full support of the Macau Special Administrative Region government through the Sports Bureau and we have been able to achieve some memorable results in regional, continental and global events by working together for the good of the athletes.

“We have a very busy year ahead of us with three OCA games in 2021 and the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China in 2022.

“We will continue to cooperate and work smoothly together to enable the athletes to produce their best performances for Macau,” he added.

Mr Lo, who is Chairman of the OCA Media Committee and a member of the OCA Executive Board, was referring to the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China in April, the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Bangkok and Chonburi Province, Thailand in May and the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Shantou, China in November.

In other news, former Macau SAR Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On was elected Honorary President of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macau, China at the General Assembly. 

Mr Chui, 63, was Macau’s second Chief Executive after the former Portuguese enclave was handed over to Beijing in 1999 and served as CE from 2009 to 2019. 

The Executive Board members of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macau, China were all re-elected.
