Bahrain and Spanish NOC chiefs reaffirm close ties

Manama, Bahrain, October 7, 2020: His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, welcomed  Alejandro Blanco Bravo, President of the Spanish Olympic Committee, at his office in Al Wadi Palace on Tuesday, October 8.

They discussed various sports-related topics within the sporting agreement signed between the two NOCs in September 2019. Also present at the meeting was Mohammed Hassan Al Nusuf, Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.

“We are proud of the visit of the President of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Mr. Alejandro Blanco Bravo, to his second country, the Kingdom of Bahrain; this confirms the relations of cooperation and friendship between Bahrain and Spain in developing various fields, especially in the sports area,” Sheikh Khalid said.

“The Bahrain Olympic Committee and its Spanish counterpart will work to support joint cooperation frameworks in order to achieve fruitful results that serve the common interest in achieving more sporting successes while upholding the value and principles of the International Olympic movement,” Sheikh Khalid added.

The Spanish NOC President added: “The Kingdom of Bahrain is making great efforts to support sport and to create an atmosphere conducive for athletes to practise different sports, encouraging the application of Olympic values and sustainable development goals.

“The Spanish Olympic Committee is happy with its partnership with the Bahrain Olympic Committee through which we aim to implement many programmes that contribute to fulfilling mutual interests and aspirations in the sports field.”

Bravo also expressed his appreciation at the efforts made by Sheikh Khalid and the Bahrain Olympic Committee to support the development of sport in the Kingdom.
