Dushanbe, Tajikistan, October 7, 2020: The National Olympic Committee of Tajikistan, in cooperation with the Department of Youth and Sports of Dushanbe, held a three-day training seminar for athletes which was funded by Olympic Solidarity.
The seminar, held from October 1-3, was attended by members of the Tajikistan NOC’s Athletes’ Commission and other athletes in the country. Topics discussed included proper nutrition, doping, the structure of sports federations and the activities of the Athletes’ Commission.
Muhammadsho Abdullozoda, Secretary General of the Tajikistan NOC, speaking at the opening of the event, said: “In recent years the International Olympic Committee has been paying special attention to athletes. That is why the activities of the Athletes’ Commission has been intensified.”
Tajikistan NOC established the Athletes’ Commission in 2019. It was proposed to hold a meeting of this body every three months in the future. The NOC executive committee and general assembly will include members of the Athletes’ Commission and athletes were encouraged to submit their proposals and requests to the Commission.
Dilshod Nazarov, who won Tajikistan’s first Olympic gold medal – in hammer throw at the 2016 Rio Olympics – met with athletes and shared his experiences.
Three-day training courses are also planned for other regions in the country.
