New Delhi, India, October 1, 2020: Dr. Narinder Dhruv Batra, President of the Indian Olympic Association, has lauded the "brilliant" new logo of the Sports Authority of India.
The new logo was unveiled by Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju at the Major Dhyan Chand National Hockey Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday, September 30, and the IOA President and IOC Member was present at the launch.
Batra posted on his Facebook page: “Congratulations Sports Authority of India and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports on unveiling a brilliant logo indicating NEW THOUGHTS, NEW IDEAS, NEW TARGETS and TARGETING FOR FINISHING IN TOP 10 IN 2028 OLYMPICS.”
The Indian Tricolour and the blue colour of the chakra, or wheel, is incorporated in the new modernised logo.
Elaborating on the design, Sports Minister Rijiju said: “The Sports Authority of India has given athletes necessary support so that their sporting careers can take off smoothly and they can fly towards a life of achievements and sporting glory – that is what the flying figure indicates – the freedom an athlete gets to leapfrog his or her career in SAI.”
The launch ceremony was also attended by Sports Secretary Ravi Mittal and SAI Director General Sandip Pradhan, among others. Many athletes, coaches and sports enthusiasts joined the event from across the country through video conferences.
