Male, Maldives, September 22, 2020: The Secretary General of the Maldives Olympic Committee, Ahmed Marzooq, has met with members of the Maldives National University and the University’s Student Union to discuss opportunities available to athletes through sport.
Among the topics of discussion raised by Marzooq at the meeting was the issue of a career pathway for athletes after they had ended their sporting career.
Marzooq talked about the role the Maldives National University and the Student Union could play in tackling these issues.
He further underlined the importance of joining and making alliances with other international university sports federations to seize opportunities available through sports.
In February this year, Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said efforts were underway to introduce a loan scheme for national athletes to help them start a business or career after they had retired.
